Tri-City Mental Health Authority (TCMHA) is implementing new safety screening procedures across its facilities beginning December 15, 2025, to support a safe and therapeutic environment for clients, staff, and visitors. These new protocols are designed to ensure a calm and supportive atmosphere while minimizing disruptions to the care experience. The screenings will be conducted with professionalism, respect, and efficiency.
What Clients and Visitors Can Expect
Visitors entering TCMHA facilities will go through a brief screening process:
- Metal detector screening: Clients and visitors will be asked to place keys and cell phones in a small bin before walking through a metal detector.
- Bag checks: All bags will be searched prior to entry. Large or oversized bags will not be permitted.
- Arrival time: We recommend arriving a few minutes early to allow for a smooth, timely screening.
- Support from security staff: Trained security personnel will be available at all times to guide visitors through the process and answer questions.
- Accommodations for Medical and Accessibility Needs: We understand some individuals may have medical devices, such as pacemakers, or other concerns that require alternative screening options. Our staff will provide accommodations to ensure these clients’ safety and comfort without compromising the effectiveness of the protocols.
These steps are designed to be quick and minimally intrusive while ensuring the safety of everyone in our care. By implementing these new screening procedures, TCMHA reaffirms its commitment to maintaining a secure environment where healing, recovery, and growth can flourish. We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of everyone as we introduce these important measures. Together, we can ensure that our facilities remain welcoming, supportive, and safe for those we serve.
